Major Trade Union - Financial Awareness Training
Our Client
A major Trade Union in the process of devolving budgetary responsibility to operational managers.
Our Brief
To develop and present a tailored programme of financial awareness and budgeting training for the relevant staff members throughout the UK.
Our Approach
We began with an examination of our standard course modules with the client. From this we identified those areas which needed to be modified, and those which needed to be replaced.
This consultative process was carried out by comparing the desired outputs against a set of objectives agreed with the client.
The objectives included:
· To provide an understanding of accounting language and concepts.
· To enable the participants to put their own activities in the context of the financial objectives of the trade union.
· To ensure that the budget and its subsequent monitoring are recognised as a significant part of the participants' responsibilities.
· To increase confidence in using accounting and financial information.
Our Achievements
Following the development and approval of the new course, within a period of two months more than 80 of the client's staff had participated.
Feedback from the courses showed that:
· the participants graded the training as "very good";
· sensitivity to the client's own culture particularly to their use of financial jargon helped ensure relevance;
· collaborative development of realistic case studies helped towards high scores in the participants feedback for the usefulness and content of the course.
