Governance Review – Large National Charity

Our Client

A large national charity.

Our Brief

A Review to:

• Examine and report on existing practices and processes.

• Recommend improvements that will result in achieving the highest possible standards of governance and management.

• Consider and propose how the recommended changes are implemented.

The Review considered the following 7 areas:

1. The Constitution
2. Strategy
3. Performance
4. Legal and Regulatory
5. Guarding the Assets
6. Quality of Governance
7. Governance Structure and Behaviours

Our Approach

We interviewed, both individually and in workshops, all members of the trustee board and senior management team and provided separate reports on Findings, Recommendations and Implementation. These reports were developed in a consultative, iterative manner and resulted in the trustee board having a clear understanding of what was being proposed, why it was being proposed and the implications thereof.

Our Achievements

Key to the review was to be able help the charity implement the agreed recommendations, which included writing a governance manual, advertising for and selecting the members of a smaller board of trustees and a new committee structure.
