International Welfare Charity - Strategy Facilitation and Development
Our Client
A medium sized, Christian welfare charity operating in the UK and internationally, who had lost focus on their strategic direction.
Our Brief
To facilitate a series of workshops with the senior management team and trustees, to provide expert advice, including tailored planning tools and templates and to support the delivery of an agreed strategy to a tight deadline.
Our Approach
The process of developing the strategy was as important as the end result. The senior management team and trustee representatives needed to comprehensively review and rethink the organisation’s Vision, Essence, Mission and Values. An iterative and reflective process ensured that these were enthusiastically owned and fully supported by all those involved. Key and supporting objectives were also subject to rigorous review and development. Criteria were developed to prioritise resources, and operational plan templates were produced for the “owners” of objectives to compile actions, resource requirements, external factors, risks and key performance indicators.
Throughout the process, we were supporting and cajoling the participants to meet demanding timescales, and where necessary, offering logjam breaking help.
A particular feature of the work was the development of a "One Page Strategy” that crystallized the key components of the strategy into a diagrammatic and accessible format.
Our Achievements
The organisation has a strategy that it owns, with the process of facilitation having rejuvenated the organisation to focus on delivery. The end results and the process that was used is being used as an exemplar for sister organisations in the international network.
